Technique Tuesday!

This is one of those really fun little projects that you can do in practically no time, or that you can spend a lot of effort and thought on to make it *really* spectacular! I opted for easy and fun ;-)
Step by step instructions

For an example of a woven paper piece which uses pieces cut into wavy shapes rather than straight, see this post on making woven paper pieces.

Cyndi, thanks for all the great resources. This looks like a fun project, and I enjoyed the interview with Peggy. I found it especially inspiring since she’s self-taught and works full time!

  2. Eileen says:

This is cool – reminds me of making those loopy potholders for our moms. The difference with this “grown-up” version is that you want to interweave the strips to create art or a statement. Peggy Dembicer’s woven art is absolutely incredible!

  3. Tom says:

Thanks, Cyndi. I’ve been dabbling with paper weaving, using my photos as well as other random paper strips; a little frustrating…until I just picked up a couple tips from you & links within your site. Ready to get back at it!

  4. Cyndi says:

Oh yeah! Photos would be *great* to use in these weavings! Thanks Tom, that’s a fabulous idea. I love fracturing photos and using them in grid designs, but imagine the possibilities of interweaving two different images…it makes the mind reel :-)

I’d love to see what you make! Send me an image if you’d like to share it cyndi@b5media.com

  5. Peggy’s work is amazing!
