Do you find yourself in the position of having to talk to your child about cancer and cancer pain? If so, there is a handbook that may help you with this.
The handbook was written as part of a comprehensive pain management plan at the Oncology Unit of the Izaak Walton Killam Children’s Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It discusses why there is cancer pain, what causes it, and pain management. There are hints for you, as a parent, to help your child and what you can say or do, such as using play and distraction, when appropriate.
