SONY DSC According to the tourist board website, Iceland banned beer for 75 long years. When they decided to finally let beer back into the country, the people of Iceland celebrated in a big way with National Beer Day on March 1, 1989. If you’re thinking about visiting Iceland and you love beer, the week of March 1st would be a good week to book your visit. The tourist board says that things are a bit wild in the evening on this holiday, so you know you won’t have a boring trip!

Can’t visit Iceland this year? Don’t let that stop you. Throw a party for a bunch of your friends, complete with a beer tasting event and tons of great food.
