Nabilone, a synthetic form of marijuana, appears to be a promising treatment for pain from fibromyalgia.

Hmmmm… scientists took opium, and made a better, stronger, safer pain reliever: morphine (also used as a ‘cure’ for alcoholism, and cocaine addiction.) Then morphine was morphed (sorry) into a newer, safer, better drug: heroin… used as a cure for morphine addiction.
Ol’ Miss worked with marijuana in an attempt to reduce its intoxicating effects, and gave us today’s superweed.
Well, I don’t have fibromyalgia (at least not as a diagnosis, tho I have many of the symptoms); I have arachnoiditis, which is worse, and is untreatable and incurable, among other health issues.
And the scientists come up with hydocodone and oxycodone, which are safer and better (sound familiar?) than natural opioids… but I can’t have those. And I can’t have weed. I can only have what the medical/scientific community and the government approve of, which has boiled down to “Learn to Live With It.”
I just hope this new drug works, but I’m not holding my breath. My fondest wish would be to have all these politicians, legislators and doctors live my life for just one month. Just 1 month. I can almost guarantee that drug companies would be working overtime for the sudden demand on pain meds. As mentioned, the tables would soon turn.
Sorry, a bit grumpy and unfocused, never-ending pain will do that to you…
Hi and thanks for posting. No need to apologize for how you sound – as you say, feeling like this will get to you after a while.
I appreciate your comments and I agree. If the people in charge of these things could only understand what it is truly like, I think things would change drastically.
