Ok, just after we learn that medicinal marijuana is *not* good for acute pain (Study Finds Oral Cannabis (Marijuana) Ineffective In Treating Acute Pain…), we learn that it may be good for treating neuropathic – nerve – pain (Marijuana May Be Effective For Neuropathic Pain). I’m going to need some of this to stop my head from aching after all this back and forth news.
Have a look at the article and see what they say. What do you think?

The main difference though is the one in which marijuana is found ineffective was looking at oral consumption vs inhaled (which is what the successful study is based on). So its not necessarily that medical marijuana is ineffective but rather the consumption method.
Also, many people who try pot for pain but don’t go through a compassion centre or Health Canada don’t realize that there are two distinct types of marijuana; indica and sativa. Indica is the one best suited for pain but within each type there are hundreds of sub-strains. You really have to figure out which one works best for yourself.

I’ve had neuropathic pain for the past 3 yrs. My Dr. has me on a good dose of pain meds every 4 hrs and a Duregesic Patch 100 mcq q 48 hrs. I’m also on the maximum dose of Neurontin and have been since my failed surgery 2 yrs ago. I would love to be able to have the opportunity to try medical marijuana. I live in a state where it’s supposed to be legal, but the Federal Gov’t says it’s not. Even if I could purchase it I wouldn’t have the slightest idea where to get it other than the local High School, and my kids are all grown. (Besides, the HS kids are supposed to be saying “no” to drugs) When the pain get tough it would be nice to have an alternative.
Thanks ahead of time for any information.
