Mary Emma’s Weekly Writing Tips – Scary Stories

You’ll find numerous writing tips and resources online, as well as those I give you.  So often, for our weekly session, I’ll point you to some great places for ideas.

October brings Halloween and thoughts of scary stories.  Why not write one of your own?

Marcie suggested we take our readers to the Scholastic site, where we’ll find some scary story prompts.  One of their suggestions is similar to mine of last week, finishing a sentence and writing a story.

So check out, Scary Starters:  Writing Activity Ideas.  You can use these for telling oral stories and writing stories of your own.

Or read a story like the one above, Scary, Scary Halloween, by Eve Bunting and illustrated by Jan Brett.  Then write one of your own about something scary.

Let us know how you make out with your stories.
