The Great Eye of Sauron

This is one of those things I share with you simply because I think it’s so darned cool, and mixed media artists need to look at cool stuff. No other reason. You can read the rest of the article here at The Register.

Astronomers at the University of California, Berkeley, and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center have released a rather remarkable Hubble image of a ring of dust around star Fomalhaut, described by New Scientist as resembling “the Great Eye of Sauron”.

    I was just surfing while i did external maintainance on my network, and as you know, my graphics are quite limited. And even I can see that this is a thing of beauty. Thank you for the glimpse, even if the colors are manipulated.
