Medicine and Health Blogs You Can Trust
Thanks to Darren Rowse at ProBlogger, the full disclosure “meme” that I tried to introduce early in the life of Genetics and Health is finally catching on. Not only is it a fun way to know more about the motivations of medical and health bloggers, it should also help us gain confidence in them and the blogs they write.
Here are the medical and health blogs (or pretty much all respectable blogs) that have participated thus far. If you’ve answered the NIH/NICCAM questions too, leave a comment here and I’ll add you to the honor roll.
- AIDS Combat Zone
- The Biotech Weblog
- Coffee & Conversation in a smoky room
- Discovering Biology in a Digital World
- Emergiblog
- The Haversian Canal
- I Speak Of Dreams
- Infrared Sauna Info
- Jung at Heart
- Make You Go Hmm
- The Medical Blog Network
- medmusings
- MRSA Resources
- MSSPNexus Blog
- The Nurse Practitioner’s Place
- Nursing Studio
- Rebel Doctor Web Log
- Shrinkette
- stephencooper.name
Dr. O of Medgadget also suggested getting certified by the Health On the Net Foundation under their Code of Conduct. And Clinical Cases and Images has more about the credibility of medical and health blogs.

Just a note to let you know that I have placed answers to the NIH/NICCAM questions on Emergiblog. Thanks….
That’s great, Kim! You’ve been added to the “honor roll.”
Dr. Lei -
I answered the ten questions for medical bloggers – all of my deep, dark secrets have been revealed, and I’ve discovered I’m pretty boring…

Rita: Please call me Hsien! I’m glad you’ve revealed all. Boring is relative, though!

Is health blogging really healthy, lean back on your chair whilst reading this and then you fall back, see might not be healthy.
Marks Fishing: Do you need a doctor?
I’m not a medblogger, but I do write about learning disabilities, effective treatments and approaches, ineffective treatments and approaches, and LD quackery.
Here’s my post and links for the blog reliability question.

That’s great, Liz! I’ve added you to the honor roll.
I think this is a great idea. I don’t write about medical issues intentionally, but I do write about using digital resources to do research on genetic diseases and other areas of biology.

Sandra: Hi! I just visited your blog the other day.
Thanks for joining in.
Thanks so much for the honor! I have put a link to your healthcare.wurk site on my links page. I will also put one to Genetics and Health. Thanks for featuring me!
NPs Save Lives: Thanks! I’m glad you took the time to answer the questions. It’s fun getting to know who the bloggers are as well as knowing their motivation.
It’s maybe too late, but I’ve seen your posts about health blogs credibility and decided to answer questions about my website. While I don’t consider my blog to be purely a health blog, I regularly blog about health topics. Here is my post with answers:

Paul: It’s never too late! I’m actually going to create a permanent page for this and put it up in my sidebar right now. You’ll be on the list.
Nice site. Very useful contents. I’ve been looking for information for a long time, and I’ve found it exactly here. Thank you
