There’s good news for some struggling bee colonies. And you.
Scientists in Spain have isolated the parasite Nosema ceranae in professional apiaries suffering from colony collapse disorder. And they successfully treated the infection.
It’s a good step. The loss of honeybees would have a huge horticultural and economic impact worldwide. Honeybees pollinate crops, fruit and wild flowers.
We’d have a tough time living without them! The findings from the recent study could help stop the decline in honey bee population in the US and Europe.
The study was published online at Environmental Microbiology Reports.

Heifer International is helping restore bee populations too. wwww.heifer.org They do some really amazing work. Check out their online gift catalogue…everything from bees to llamas to cows.
Heather, thanks for the reminder. I donated some chickens at Heifer for Christmas. It’s a fun way to give.
This is the first I’ve heard of this possible help:-)
