Meditating for Change

If there’s one thing meditation can do for you, it can help you tune in to what’s happening on the inside.
Whether you are new to meditation, or have practiced for some time, your practice can be a wonderful guide to help you find what you want and need spiritually, emotionally and physically. And there’s no better time to give it a try than on the precipice of a new year.
I have been spending a lot of my meditation practice over the past week focusing in on what is most important to me in my life, and sifting through the “chaff” within my mind to find the kernels of truth and emotion that I plan to use for setting my goals and reodering my priorities in 2009.
Several themes have surfaced for me over the past several days. My health, and living a more natural life keeps emerging. Building more positive relationships is taking a close second. Dialing down my tendency to become anxious and worried over every little thing is also prominent.
So those are the building blocks that I will be using to create my New Year’s list. What about you? We all want to be more beautiful, popular and wealthy, but what are your priorities beneath the surface?
Get quiet, journal and really think over the next couple of days. Listening to your own voice and responding to your natural instincts can be a truly powerful and enlightening experience. Take a few moments for yourself, no matter what your schedule is like. Think, meditate and harvest the feelings and emotions that will bear the most fruit for you in 2009.
Peace.
