We don’t often think of men having chronic pelvic pain, but they do. Most often, it’s caused by prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) or a urinary tract infection (UTI), but sometimes, it’s not either of those and no cause is pinpointed.
According to this article, Antibiotics misprescribed in most men with chronic pelvic pain, the majority of men with chronic pelvic pain unrelated to prostatitis or UTI.
If a man is prescribed the antibiotics for chronic pelvic pain, he should ask why he is receiving it and if he needs it.
