Mental Health America 2008 Media Awards

Contests and competition may be in the air here at b5media’s Science & Health Channel, but in Alexandria, Virginia, Mental Health America is gearing up for the 2008 Media Awards!

The awards categories include:

  • Print (and online)
  • Broadcast (news/educational/public service programming)
  • Entertainment (broadcast, cable, DVD or theatrical release)
  • Photography
  • Student Awards
  • Special Awards

Although I’ve only been blogging about mental health here at Mental Health Notes for almost a year, I think I may enter. I have until March 31, 2008 to choose a submission and drop the application packet in the mail. The $50-entry fee is daunting, but I may think otherwise once the end of March rolls around.

Do you also write about mental health? Did you write and have published a mental health-related piece in 2007? Maybe made a documentary, or taken a picture that was used with an article? Consider entering, and let me know if you do!

Your blog is wonderful, modern, upbeat and helps break-down stigma as a result. You should enter, just so others can find your blog and subscribe. Even if you don’t win, others will gain by finding you (assuming they post a link for every entry). I’d give you the money, but I’m not very wealthy.

  2. Awe, thanks so much, Air. I would definitely consider it a victory if it proved only to get the word out more about MHN. I’m planning to go through the 2007 posts this weekend to see if there are any that would be acceptable to submit. I’ll definitely update. Thanks again!
