Mental Health Month Day 12

Thanks to the most recent group writing project at problogger (which ended Thursday), I was introduced to several interesting blogs yesterday (I know, I know, it’s been going on for longer – yesterday was the only semi-free day I had) and even subscribed to a few of them.

The “Top 5″ GWP inspired some really creative blog posts. Some were long, others were short. Many were humorous, a few were serious. And most put my poor Top 5 Reasons Writers Should Procrastinate to shame!

However, the best “Top 5″ GWP post (in my opinion, of course) came from the very multi-faceted Danielle Signor of Hoshichan.com. In her post Five personal revelations from eight weeks of depression treatment, Danielle highlights five things she’s learned since coming to terms with depression and beginning SSRIs.

I highly recommend reading the post. Danielle’s explanations of each personal revelation are so honest and raw that no one – from the most gleeful to the most depressed – will be able to resist considering how each one relates to them.

So, my Mental Health Month tip for today? Listen to others. Whether you’ve been diagnosed with a mental health condition, or you simply just haven’t felt quite yourself lately, realize that you aren’t the only one. Listen to what others have to say. Learn from their discoveries. Cross the bridge and talk with them to see if what they’ve concluded, or the ways in which they’ve begun to heal, might help you, too.
