In a series of videos on Johnson & Johnson’s Health Channel on YouTube, General Hospital star Maurice Benard speaks very openly about his bipolar disorder. Probably more openly than I’ve personally witnessed any celebrity speak about the more…severe mental illnesses.
Benard talks honestly about the extreme highs and extreme lows of bipolar disorder; how he reached out to his family for help; and even how he struggles with taking medication.
His wife also offers suggestions for people who are living with someone with a mental illness.

Yet another reason he’s awesome. I used to have such a crush on him back when he was on All My Children playing Nico…that was even before General Hospital. He’s so great.
