Meyer Lemons For Me

I’m so excited — instead of an expensive bouquet of roses (which, of course, I wouldn’t have turned down!), for about half the price of flowers my husband and kids got me a dwarf improved Meyer lemon tree for Mother’s Day!
I’ve mentioned the lime kick I’ve been on lately and last week mentioned that being able to get a citrus tree sometime soon would be kind of fun. He couldn’t find any lime trees at the nursery so I got this beauty:

It was one of the only ones at the nursery and is going to need a little bit of TLC, but I’ve done some research and this thing is more or less indestructible, which is good since we live in such a harsh climate that growing any other kind of fruit tree would probably be impossible.
We’d toyed with the idea of getting a tree for a while, especially since our tomatoes and peppers are doing so well, and had talked about a fruit salad citrus tree, which the nursery did have but not in the combination we wanted (lemon/lime).
Anyway, we missed the blossoming for this tree (which I’ve read smell divine), but that just means we’re that closer to fruit, and we’ve already got tons of these little guys popping out:

I’ve got a bunch of lemon recipes already and am so excited for fresh lemons for treats, snacks and drinks. Just a couple more months!
What are your favorite lemon recipes?

Now I’m jealous! Will you have to bring it inside for the winter, or do you live where it’s warm enough to leave it out?
I was so stoked when I saw it on the patio – he did good!
We’ll probably need to bring it in for a month or so around December/January. It doesn’t get really cold here but it does get close to freezing some nights around then.
Score! I so want a Meyer lemon. So yummy, plus a lovely tree.
