Possible First Lady, Michelle Obama made a stop off at Paula’s Party to chit-chat and cook.  Michelle spoke about the first meal she ever made for Senator Obama, Seafood Gumbo.  She said it turned out great for a first timer…but hasn’t made it sense.

The Celebrity News Examiner shared the news of the visit along with some info from Miss Deen:

“She was everything I thought she would be: Smart, great sense of humor and loves to talk about family,” Paula told People. “I can tell she spends time in the kitchen – she was very relaxed when we cooked. And that lady is a good eater.”

A good eater?  Who would ever guess.

The episode of Paula’s Party with Michelle Obama will air on Saturday, September 20 at 9pm EST.

    So…
Is Sarah Palin going to guest on Food Network star, Guy Fieri’s show? I would definitely watch that!!

  2. Bill says:

Since Paula Deen is going to endorse political figures then I will not watch any more nor will I visit her restaurant.

  3. Kathy says:

Please have Sarah Palin on Paula’s Party. I pray having Michelle Obama was not an endorsemet for her husband. It seems like I watch less T.V. since hollywood went liberal. I would not like to think that another program bites the dust

  4. Brenda says:

I would hope that your next political guest would be Sarah Palin – what’s the chance of that happening? Or are you showing support only for where you stand politically?

  5. First of all, I don’t think that Paula Deen was endorsing anyone. More than likely the campaign approached her show to try to appeal to a different demographic. Cindy McCain would be just as welcome and it wouldn’t surprise me if she showed up some where. On the part of Paula deen, It was about ratings…not political views.

Both campaigns have gone to shows like…the View…to appeal to the masses.

And just some food for thought…we are speaking of a potential first lady…you do mean that you would like Cindy McCain to be on the show? Right??? why on earth would Sarah Palin go on Paula’s Party…
You do remember that she is running for Vice President…one of the most powerful posititions in the world…she is not McCain’s “first Lady”
I doubt that Palin baking a cake with Paula and speaking about moose burgers will really help the case that she is ready to be a heart beat away from the presidency. Being ready for “prime time” is not meaing showing up on cooking shows. Such an appearance would give her critics even more ammunition!
Did anyone of you ask if Joe Biden was going to be on Paula’s Party???? I should hope not! Now THAT is sexist!

  6. Jeanenne Somers says:

Paula, how could you, I love your programs, family, cook books and down home attitude, tell me you are not going poltical, how bout Todd Palin, he could tell you a few choice fish recipes! I am so sick of everyone getting into the act, I don’t think I will watch Obama
and watch Paula gushing all over her. Stick to what you do best, cooking and making it fun to see your family – which makes a better show!!!!
I love watching Bobby, Jamie, little Jack, Brooke and of course Michael might be time for you all to take another vacation, to show on your program. We will be coming up to your restaurant and Bubba’s again soon from Florida, don’t disappoint me again!
    Jeanenne Somers

  7. AMA says:

This is entertainment, and not politics. Paula is highly respected and represents every woman! I am a Republican, but separate my political interests from my hobbies! Michelle Obama and Paula obviously share culinary dishes – I would not want to view Paula and Sarah cooking up mooseburgers!

  8. Bob says:

    Hi Miss Paula,

    1. You have had Michelle Obama on. When are you going to have Cindy McCain on?

    2. Since you have exercised your rights, I’m exercising my rights:

    a. If my wife watches your TV show, I’m leaving the house while you are on.

    b. My wife subscribes to your magazine. When I pick it up out of our ranch mailbox, I won’t throw it away. I’ll just go get my horse and go for a ride while she reads your magazine.

    c. If my wife serves a recipe of yours, I promise you that I’ll get my horse and go for a ride and not take one bite of your recipe … EVER.

I respect you for what you have been through and done. Now it is your turn to respect us in the rural areas of our great Country.

Oh, by the way, I am a ‘Nam Vet … I know what it is like to fight for our great Country.

I leave you with this thought, Miss Paula:

“For those who have fought for it, freedom has a special flavor the protected will never know.”

    God Bless.

    -Bob

  9. Venus says:

You’re right. As soon as I hit the submit button, I realized that I should have been asking about Cindy McCain not Sarah Palin. But just to be clear, I didn’t ask when Sarah might be on Paula’s show, but Guy Fieri’’s.

And about Joe Biden, whoever said I wasn’t sexist?

  10. First of all, I hope that everyone commenting understands this this blog is not affiliated with Paula Deen, I just write about different things that relate to food and celebrity chefs.
Next…Ms Deen is not endorsing anyone. They didn’t talk about policy they spoke about family and Seafood gumbo…subjects that whether or not you have a “D” or a “R” by your name ring true.
Paula is not Oprah…she is not endorsing..just trying to entertain people. I would guess that we will see some “R” over at Paula’s Party…and she won’t be endorsing them either and no one should get all upset that she has them on the show.
And finally…..THANK YOU AMA! I was beginning to wonder if all sense of reason had suddenly left the planet.

  11. Ok people…just read a blog over on Slashfood and said that she has also invited Cindy McCain AND Sarah Palin…sooo she has invited them all..I doubt you will see Palin, but you may end up seeing Cindy McCain…I just have a hard time seeing her cooking for some reason…so OK..lay off the woman and stay tuned because she is a equal opportunity entertainer…the link is below
    http://www.slashfood.com/2008/09/16/michelle-obama-parties-with-paula-deen/

  12. thanks Venus for the clarification….I was a little concerned….as I said above though, Cindy may end up on with Paula…I doubt Cindy McCain or Michelle Obama for that matter are off the hook enough to be on Guy’s new show…
I have to say all this talking about politics and food makes me realize that November can’t come fast enough…all of our worlds are colliding and blurring the lines of politics and just having fun.

  13. Arista says:

Paula: Simply said, you can’t please everybody all the time, whiners … people always looking for an excuse to blame others for their selfish ways and childish thinking. “I won’t watch your show anymore!”; “I’ll leave out of the room while my wife is watching your show!”; “I’ll just go get my horse and go for a ride while she reads your magazine!” Close minded individuals – Ms. Paula, you do a great job and there are more open-minded people out here that enjoy your show, your recipes and your spirit.

  14. carol brown says:

Paula!!!! I have always loved you, but I am afraid you have let all of us who helped to make you who you are today down in a BIG way. You have now started to FORCE your politics down our throats, and girl, you KNOW that ain’t gonna fly. You need to leave all of that stuff out of your show, and even then, I feel like I never knew you at all, and I really thought I did :( Are you sure you are a bona fide south Georgia girl?

  15. Kathy says:

I still like Paula Dean I just think its better to get back to what’s important. Spending time with family and getting away from the boob tub. To much Politics is said. research for yourself and look at their records because all politians lie. search their backrounds. See what the news is not reporting. Farakon is calling Obama the savior. Whats that all about? check it out for yourself.

  16. Kathy says:

I stopped watching T.V. all together. When they get caught up in politics. I just shut them off. I save alot of electricity that way. Thanks to Barney Franks and to congress we are in a financial melt down. Oh and lets not forget Acorn giving out unnecessary morgage loans. This maybe a good thing. Family’s seem to spend more time together. We are playing board games with our kids. Just shut that T.V.

  17. Ted Montgomery says:

As of today All my Paula Dean’s cookbooks are in the trash. Will no longer buy or watch her shows.

  18. Kathy says:

I’m with you Ted. I haven’t watch the food channel since Paula’s show with Michele Obama. The best thing about it is I don’t miss it.

  19. Kathy says:

I hate I missed Paula’s show with Michelle Obama.
It was nice to see John and Cindy McCain on Rachael Ray’s show and his Rib recipe looked lgood. Does that mean I am not going to watch Ray again because she had McCain on? No, of course not!
People need to vote for who they want but don’t take it out on the show or the host.

  20. THANK YOU Kathy from NOV 1st…I couldn’t agree more….leave the show hosts alone!!

  21. Randay says:

I 2nd that, Tracey. Why stop watching a show that you obviously liked beforehand just because the host had a guest on the show that you might not like? That’s just ridiculous. McCain happened to be on the Ellen Show and I love her show but I cannot stand him. So should I stop watching her show just because she had him on her show? No way! Her show is great and will continue to be great despite the fact of a guest that I didn’t care for.
