Miley Cyrus with Barbara Walters

Did you watch Barbara Walters interview Miley Cyrus on the Oscars special? It was a pretty segment. We find out how she got the name Miley, what she thinks of Jamie Lynn Spears’ pregnancy and we even get to see a bit of her father’s audition tape for his role as Miley’s father on Hannah Montana.

I really like her explanation of how she’ll walk a straight path and not follow in the footsteps of some of today’s young stars, like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. She said she relies on her family and faith and how important family is. She’s only fifteen-years-old, but she understands her place as a role model for hundreds of thousands of tween and teen girls. She’s quite an inspiration.

I completely forgot this was on!! I wanted to Tivo it since we are TV free this week. I’ll just watch the clip on YouTube instead.

I watched it. It was great. I’m so glad we have someone like her as a role model for our girls. Too bad my 11 yo already thinks she’s not cool anymore. Jeez, what’s with kids that age obsessing over something/someone and then 5 seconds later thinking it’s lame?

The only bad thing is some of the dresses she has worn to award things and walking the red carpet have been a bit revealing and she makes pouty lip looks at the cameras….at only 15. I don’t like that at all. I hope she stays true to her word and really does end up a good role model! I know that is such a tough thing to stick by sometimes!
