Mini-steak thermometers

Grilling season is well underway and I couldn’t be happier. I love to grill and will find any excuse to fire it up. I will try anything grilled, from the classics like burgers and dogs to a wide range of fresh vegetables to cedar planked salmon or southwestern eggs. It all comes out extra tasty. The fine art of grilling is something I definitely want to teach my son as he grows up. I just have to wait until he won’t hurt himself.

Grilling is especially great during the summer because it allows you to cook without heating up your house. It’s supposed to be 95 degrees here today with humidity over 80% , so we’ve already planned dinner on the grill. Last weekend I was the grillmaster for a picnic my in-laws threw and I had the pleasure of working with some beautiful fillet mignon. However, fillet is a fickle beast and can quickly turn from tender and juicy to shoe leather. It is as also a meat that looks deceptively reddish or pink to many, suggesting that it is undercooked when it is actually perfect. I only wish I had come across these little beauties before, miniature steak thermometers! These would be perfect for a spot check on a few fillets to show others just how perfect your meat really is. I think I’m going to invest in a few.
