Miss Montana, Kristen Mantooth, has a pretty impressive resume. She’s a firefighter (two summers with the Montana Bureau of Land Management); a cross country runner; a dancer; a gymnast; a college student (English major, art minor) – and oh yeah, she’s going to represent her state of Montana in the Miss America Pageant in January.
She just added “children’s book author and illustrator” to the list.
Mantooth has recently published Danny Goes to the Doctor, which she authored and illustrated. The full-color book is written for kindergarten and grade-school kids, although “hopefully, anybody can enjoy it.”
Proceeds from sales of the book go to several charities, including the Children’s Miracle Network and its Montana affiliate, Shodair Children’s Hospital in Helena, as well as the Montana Hope Project, for which Mantooth is state spokeswoman.
“I would love to do more books,” she said, adding that her children’s book is “just the start.”
You can read more about Miss Montana on her blog.
