Technique Tuesday!

The collage that I showed you yesterday (above) was made in a very similar fashion to this one from over a year ago:

I wove the background stips of paper together and adhered the paper cast center before beginning the rest of the embellishments, but otherwise, the two are pretty similar in construction methods. Here’s a link to the tutorial that I wrote on making collages embellished with embroidery.

Oh yes! I have to try this. The embroidery collages are wonderful! For some reason they remind me of samplers.
Oh yes! Definitely very sampler-like
These collages are very beautiful. I think combining paper and fabric/ or trim makes for a lovely piece.
Thank you Patricia! I love to combine as many different materials as possible…without getting silly, that is!
I like these. They look “clean”. I guess it’s because there is an order to them. Maybe the grid design. I’ll have to remember this. Sometimes collages get too muddled which is okay at times but overwhelming at others.
I really like this effect, and need to add to my list of must tries.
Thanks so much for sharing this, just one more page in my TO DO journal!
Grids keep me organized, but I also like chaos from time to time
Thanks for the great tutorials!
Years ago – I am 60 now! I used to do Kits by companies such as Penelope of pictures with tapestry wools, embroidery silks, beads, sequins etc. I did a wonderful one of an ear of wheat. I can’t seem to find anything like them now can anyone help?
Thank you.
Gillian
I just searched google on the term “embroidery kits”, Gillian, and I found lots of them available. Joann’s even has them
