Ok, I am one who believes in the importance of a healthy lifestyle, buy I am also a proponent of moderation. There are some cultures who seem to be able to enjoy their food and life without having a population that is overweight and lazy. France and Japan happen to come to mind.
Now the Nutrition Gestapo has hit an all time low…messing with my party drinks. New Year’s Eve on the Today Show they had some Nimrod from Men’s Health Magazine, warning you about all the calories in your drinks. Now, honestly I can’t remember the name of Mr. Nimrod. I shuttered and quickly deleted the show from my DVR. I was unable to find the video or links on the Today Show website anymore and I was unable to find any articles associated with this over at the Men’s Health website.
He did have a couple of interesting revelations, like a Guinness Stout has fewer calories than a Pale Ale…who knew? But would you substitute one for the other when you came down to choosing what you wanted to drink?
When someone begins giving me substitutions for what I am in the mood to drink…I get more than annoyed. I am not a heavy drinker and I think that I am like most people in that on certain days and certain times of the year I am in the mood for certain drinks
Oooo…that Margarita is 500 calories how about a Blackberry Mojito….a Mojito??? You want to substitute my tequila and lime juice for mint, blackberries and rum???? If I wanted a Mojito I would order a Mojito. Aaaaggghhh!!! These dietitians and nutritionists are driving me crazy!!! Listen, unless you make a daily habit of chugging down a pitcher of margaritas don’t worry your self. I understand the sentiment, but this doesn’t work. It’s like telling someone to go eat a celery stick instead of biting into that Chocolate Chip Cookie. You eat the celery and you still want the cookie.
