Mom’s Going to School

How many of you are college students as well as parents? It took me 12 years, well just about, to finally go to college. No I wasn’t being lazy or scared, but we were in the military and constantly getting moved from one place to the next. Finally, I began college earlier this year. Woo hoo!

I want to know how many of you are doing this exact thing? Was it what you expected? If not, why? For me, I think I always expected the whole group study thing going on.

But being the mother of four that is a bit different, the only group studying I do is maybe reading my posts to my kids. Yes, I said posts, meaning that I take a few of my classes online. That’s one thing that I did not think about so long ago when I first thought of college, but it is one of the easiest ways to being a college student and mom. But at the same time it is harder because you don’t get that one on one with the teacher and you can’t really do the hands-on portion.

Today, I took my final in my worse subject….math. But I already got my grade and I’ll be passing the class with an A. Woo hoo! Now to wait for my next two classes to end to find out how I did. I did study for the test, but not as I would’ve back in high school. How do you study? Can’t wait to hear back from ya’ll.

Oh, please do more articles on this! I would love to hear more about the online classes vs the ones you take on campus. How hard was math to do online? I would LOVE to take some online classes, but I dunno if I could do math without a teacher to occasionaly peak over my shoulder (it was my worst subject in school too).

    Eliza,
Congrats on the A! I took several online classes and they were a lot of fun and so much more flexible than traditional classes. The best were the ones where the professors recorded their actual lectures and we could watch them on streaming video and then ask questions and interact with the rest of our virtual class through online discussions. The worst? A one paragraph “lecture” and an assignment. For a class towards an MLS!
