Mood swings – is there a way to avoid, or at least minimize them?

I think we’ve all either been part of or have witnessed the effects of hormonal mood swings. One moment everything is just great and the next, well, the next minute, it’s time to duck for cover.
As much as people do joke about it, it’s not fun being the one having the mood swings any more than it is to be on the receiving end. It’s frustrating to feel like your feelings and reactions are just out of your control.

I think it also helps to stop and think about why you are feeling the things you feel. It can be hard in the middle of a raging fit, but sometimes, trying to analyze my feelings helps me see that I am reacting way out of line to the situation.
The first trimester is the most trying for me and I often fly off the handle. It takes a lot to stop one of the emotional swings and find that middle ground again. It helps to realize sometimes that it just is the hormones.
