More To Love, Real-size Reality Dating Show

Every week, while watching So You Think You Can Dance with my pal, Leah, we see promos for a new dating-type reality show called More To Love. It looks like it’s set up in the same vein as the Bachelor/Bachelorette, which makes sense as all three shows are executive produced by Mike Fleiss.
The ladies in the promos are very pretty, perfectly coiffed and made up, talking about how much they want to find a true love story. I’m a sucker for that sort of thing, so I plan to watch the More To Love when it premieres on July 28, 2009.
Leah thinks that they should have picked a handsomer man, but I think he looks like a regular guy, which is what I think they are going for with this one.
Here’s a bit more from the shows website at Fox:
FOX is setting out to prove that love comes in all shapes and sizes with the new inspirational dating competition series MORE TO LOVE. Executive-produced by Mike Fleiss (“The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette”), the unscripted series follows a single average guy with a big waist and an even bigger heart as he romances several confident and secure plus-size women. Each week, the husky hunk will wine and dine a group of curvy women to determine if they have more love to give or if they are truly more than he can handle. When the size of competition narrows, he will have to decide if one full-figured lady will become his true love.

That is horrifying. Reality TV is ridiculous. So glad I don’t have cable or broadcast television.
I think this is interesting, while I may not have tv right now, I will probably watch an episode or two if you post the youtube videos. Why do you think it is horrifying Patrick? Because they are all shapes and sizes?
You know I really do wish they’d do just regular people and pull them off the streets and see if they’d match up to someone. Does that make sense Michelle? I mean instead of picking 10 hot guys or 10 fat/ugly/professional guys/girl to see who matches, try grabbing a handful and seeing what happens. Or maybe do what Love Connection once did. Have them all hidden for a few weeks or blindfold the host (womean/man) and see which one they’d pick. Okay I know I’m blabbing but I think it would be really neat to watch and wouldn’t look so staged.
I like the idea that they are using curvy women for the show. I think the idea of regular people is interesting, Eliza. I watched this one show on ….Discovery, I think, TLC maybe, anyway, they showed some divorced moms with kids and they got to each pick some men from a group – these were all nice-looking people, but regular folks. They went on some dates, met the kids, met the man’s kids. As a dating mom, I am curious about how other women handle a social life.
I’m looking forward to checking this show out. I don’t think that it’s promoting women that are of a bigger size. I think more so it’s trying to let people know that they don’t have to be a perfect size 5 or smaller to deserve love or a chance at finding love. I give Fox kudos for raising the bar and having the guts to go with this idea
