MorningStar Farms Veggie Bites

OK, I know, I’ve been eating (and blogging about) way too much processed foods these days. Normally my diet doesn’t include all that many fake meat products, but on my rare trips back to the US, I go a little crazy in the freezer aisle of the grocery store. We don’t have MorningStar Farms, Gardenburger, or Boca brand foods over in Switzerland (or Germany).

Last week I came across these spinach artichoke Veggie Bites and decided to give them a try. After about 20 minutes in the oven, they were hot and ready to eat. I was pleasantly surprised with how they turned out. For a greasy, breaded snack food, they tasted unexpectedly… natural. You could actually taste the veggies, and the cheese wasn’t bright orange or the consistency of melted plastic. At the end of the day, they are still a greasy, breaded snack food, so I wouldn’t be looking to eat them on a regular basis, but I could definitely see serving them at a Superbowl party or something of that ilk (you know, those occasions that call for greasy, breaded snacks).
