Flowers are a universal favorite for Mother’s Day gifts. Most moms enjoy getting flowers in some form or another and they are easy for kids to buy. No remembering dress sizes. No worries about whether she can really learn how to use some gizmo.

This year, I received a Dianthus in an adorable polka dot pot. (I love Dianthus. Around here, they act as perennials.) I also received parsley and marigolds from my baby brother. Wasn’t that sweet of him?
I noticed a pretty yellow arrangement, roses and a nice potted begonia at friends’ houses, so I’m not the only one who got flowers early for Mother’s Day. With all these gorgeous flowers, you’d think it would be hard to pick the most treasured arrangement, right? Actually, it was really simple. If I was giving a prize, it would have to go to a glowing young mom who showed me the bouquet her little boy picked from the yard, dandelion roots and all!
