Everybody knows Mr. Food, right? I feel comfort whenever I hear his “Oh it’s sooo good” line after every segment. His presentation today after my local news didn’t include cooking one of his delicious recipes. He featured a few gadgets that he thinks we all could use instead. The Kitchen Calc Pro and The Meat Tenderizer.

Kitchen Calculator Pro
Kitchen Calc Pro, $29.99 — I want this one. I can’t stand Math. I probably should have paid attention more at school when it came to Math because every time a recipe calls for a certain amount of ingredients that doesn’t say cups or tsp, I am completely lost. I usually go to my husband whom by the way is a great cook himself to ask how much is this and that. With this Kitchen Calc Pro, I wouldn’t have to. I could just punch in the numbers and it converts it for me. Not only that, it also scales # of servings and portions, convert temperatures, and scales recipes up and down. How awesome is that?

Meat Tenderizer
Meat Tenderizer, $19.99 — This is cool but frankly I consider it one of the unnecessary kitchen tools. See, I learned a trick from famous Asian Chef, Stephen Yan from the show Wok with Yan. I once saw an episode of his show a long time ago using a fork to tenderize a steak. So all you have to do is stab a steak, on both sides, with fork for a few times. This would help the meat absorbs marinades or seasoning. I mean if you could use a fork to tenderize small pieces of meat, why buy another gadget that would fill up another space in your kitchen? Sometimes it’s ok to let go of some kitchen gadgets, and this is one of them in my opinion. But if you really want one then go for it .
