Could mushrooms help you stay warm? A couple of young entrepreneurs, Eben Bayer and Gavin McIntyre, believe that Greensulate makes that possible.

They created the material from mushrooms, useful for their mycelium fibers. The mushroom invention could replace Styrofoam and other insulating materials used in walls or packaging.

Greensulate is low-cost and eco-friendly, but not yet approved for market. Bayer and McIntyre are hoping that changes soon and their mushroom material replaces conventional foam products.

The pair won an Invention Award from PopSci! Read more about it at PopularScience.com.

Would you use mushroom insulation?
