I Am Going Through Junk Food Withdrawal

Ever notice how bad you feel, on the first day of a healthy eating regime. I ate Mediterranean vegetables, and chicken skewers for dinner, and I am in so much pain. My stomach is insisting that I eat Ramen noodles. I should have weaned myself off of the junk food, instead of going cold turkey.

Because of the absence of junk food today (the first day in weeks) my stomach is doing somersaults, my skin has gone a whiter shade of pale, and I have a bit of a fever. I thought this stuff was supposed to be good for you. I am not giving up on the healthy eating quite yet, but I am definitely off to a rough start. I am thinking its the eggplant that is doing this to me. I should know better than to start off with purple vegetables.

Today’s Mantra : I will not ingest Ramen noodles!

Really makes you wonder what they put into that junk food… I guess there are upsides to being allergic to everything prepackaged ;)

Hang in there! Soon junk food will be making you feel that way, and veggies will make you feel AWESOME! :)

The good thing about eating properly, is that my headache finally went away.

I know that it won’t take too long, for me to start feeling good again.

I am banning all Ramen noodles from my kitchen. That should actually force me to eat some real food. Jul, I am going to be spending a lot of time on your blog looking for veggie ideas.

    Jul,

you are right. Day 3 is MUCH better than day 1.

Now if I could just do something about the dairy….but tackling issues one at a time, is probably a lot easier, than doing them all at once. And way less confusing.

My grandson (7) with Mod-Severe Autism eats approximately 6 foods –mostly “specific fast food” fries/chicken nuggets…and Nilla Wafers, Eggo Waffles. He is highly discerning –allowing NO substitutes. Soon there must be a ‘drastic move” AWAY from this pattern for obvious reasons –virtually “cold turkey.” WATER ONLY for beverage. We anticipate a serious traumatic journey for him and his parents? Any help with EXPERIENCE, SUGGESTIONS ? Please!

    soulfill,

the other day I had someone write about whole foods and the benefits of planning ahead- and how that has helped her.

Certainly, eating healthier has helped me. The initial horrible feeling that went with cutting out junk food was temporary.

I know very little about autism, or what food can do – however, there are readers of this blog that have children with autism – and there is a wonderful blog on this channel called Autism Vox. I suggest checking out her site, it might give you some ideas.

I also understand there are some other parenting blogs about raising children with autism on b5media, which I think can be found within the lifestyles channel.

I am sorry that I am not able to help you. But I would be most interested in hearing about the experience about switching your grandson off of his current diet.

I hope all goes well with it.

I am going through those same feelings right now…It sucks. Its sad that to make yourself feel better you have to feel bad first. Some time i just want to eat something full of sugar just to make the pain go away. But i have to be stronger than that i guess…
