My Girl’s a Gamer After All

So, the big gift this year from Kerri’s mom was a Wii. We didn’t ask for it, but Kerri’s mom bought us one all the same.
No complaints here. It’s been fun, and it would appear that my wife is a gamer after all. While I’ve been slaving away, she’s been busy unlocking cars and courses for Cruis’n.
I’ll admit I’m a bit surprised. See, I grew up in arcades and playing NES and Sega. I’ve long been under the spell of video games. I love video games, and that is precisely why I haven’t bought a game since Sim City 2000. They tap into the addictive centers of my brain way too easily. Hours pass without my knowledge, and that’s not a good thing when you have kids, a job, and a wife.
We once went looking for a game system together. We visited one of the strip-mall video game resellers to peruse the available titles. I found dozens that I would be interested in playing; Kerri didn’t see a single one, and so we never bought a system.
Nevertheless, we received a second-hand PS2 a few months ago, and now we own a Wii. And she – the girl who never showed much interest before, has been burning rubber for the past two hours. I’m so proud… I think I might cry.

Kerri’s latest addition to her RSS reader, I’m sure…
UPDATE: Heather’s comment reminded me to come back and tell you that by 4:15 am Kerri had completed her task and unlocked all of the cars and courses. W00T!

Hysterical! My husband and I are both gamers (and geeks) and the Wii is a great one for couples. There’s nothing more fun than a date night at home. There are so many games for it both men and woman can enjoy! My current obsession – Dance Dance Revolution for the Wii.
