Kendra:
I've never personally experienced a value over 400, but I can related to your concern.

Is it possible you may have an infection of some sort? I find that dealing with my BG while I am sick can be quite crazy at times.

In any case, I wanted to invite you and anybody else with diabetes or diabetic relatives to visit http://tudiabetes.com, a Social Network for diabetics. It's a site to help each other, educate ourselves and share the steps we take every day stay healthy while living with this very serious condition.

No words of wisdom since I am sort of a walking cautionary tale where crazy glucose levels are concerned. Just wanted to throw in a friendly note of best wishes instead.

Also, I wanted to say that I have been enjoying this blog a LOT since you took the driver's seat. (Why did it take that other guy so long to leave? Sheesh...) You're doing an AWESOME job here, keep it up.

@Amy: I know, as a nurse and informed diabetic, but it is still a little scary since I have personally never dealt with it. I am not implying that it is the end of the world, just scary for now.

@Chrissie: Thanks for your kind words. I am sure everything will work itself out.

I hate to tell you, but an occassional 540 is not the end of the world. The severe lows are much more dangerous.

Kendra - I totally understand that you feel scared, but look you caught whatever is happening in time. Aren't you a T2 and you don't take insulin? Otherwise I would advise you to keep taking correction boluses until you get the bg values down. God I read so many blogs now I cannot keep everybody straight! Test very frequently. If the tests climb just go to the ER! How can I say try not to worry until you appointment? Let's be realistic anyone would. All I can say is I understand and maybe that will make you feel less alone. High bg values really mess your mind and emotions. D is a big battle, I have had it for 45 years. My heart went out to you! I have been scared too.
