Mysterious vegetables

I shot this thing at my local vegetable shop this week.  It looks like unshaved Katsuobushi (fermented and dried bonito) but I am sure it was actually a vegetable.  In the pack was something that looked like saw dust.

Any guesses as to what it is and how to use it?

The picture is really small, so I can’t say for sure, but it looks sort-of like yuca/tapioca root?
Try google-image it and see if it fits. :D
I just recently discovered you blog and for sure I’m enjoying it ^^

I hope this turns up, since comments don’t seem to agree with me today, mh…

    Could it be yuca/tapioca root?

Looks like yucca root. My cuban step-grandma used to peel it and bake in foil with garlic. It was yummy.
