Napping at work
Now here’s a work policy I could get behind:
(AP) The French already enjoy a 35-hour work week and generous vacation. Now the health minister wants to look into whether workers should be allowed to sleep on the job.
I can remember returning to work after my first child was born and sitting in the bathroom stall with my head up against the wall to rest “just for a minute”.
I have no excuse anymore, well at least until they’re teenagers, but, I guess it wouldn’t be good to go all George Costanza on my employer and build a bed under my desk, just yet.















I totally agree especially since I actually fell asleep at my desk yesterday for over a half hour. I was exhausted and thought I would just lean back for a few minutes, I must have fallen right to sleep because usually I can fight it off by getting up and walking around.
My company does offer quiet rooms but they are usually occupied and not very comfortable. Harris Bank (I think) in Chicago also used to have something similar.
I think as long as you aren’t taking 2 hr naps, it should be allowed because some days you just can’t fight it!
I pulled a George Costanza once when I was pregnant. I couldn’t deal I was so tired. So I closed my office door and passed out on the floor for a half hour. It was heaven.
The business “types” in this country just don’t get that providing for your employees is good for them, makes them better workes, and more efficient when they are working.
Nope, if it can’t be graphed on a Productivity Chart’s Cost Analysis, they will not consider it.
I remember doing the exact same thing. I really wish I could have a sofa in my office.
I remember at my old work, there was a chaise in the ladies’ room. It was even set a bit apart from the rest of the room by a doorway. I know it’s sexist, but I appreciated the archaic charm.
When I was in my 1st trimester of pregnancy, the nice folk I worked with set up a little area in the breakroom where I could pass out. Oh, I loved them!
