Our first Mardi Gras Parade.
Zack catching Mardi Gras booty.
Pretending to be soldiers in a fort.
Steel Magnolia House.
Feeding geese.
Feeding ducks.
Visited plantations, slave quarters.
Climbing live oaks on plantations.
Natchitoches, Louisiana, pronounced Nacadish, was the first settlement in the entire Louisiana Purchase. It was a French Settlement, but so remote there was much intermarriage between the French, Spanish, African American and Native American people – the combination of which became known as Creole.
Steel Magnolias was also filmed there.
They have a magnificent European-like Catholic Cathedral there, but the pics didn’t turn out so great.

These are great photos. And oh my gosh, what happened to the pink? This is a lot of orange.
pink is a little passive – I wanted something that said powerful action.
Too much? Maybe I’ll do a poll.
I like orange. But you know why the pink was cool here – because it was a little passive. You’d see the pink and think, “What’s this, a girly make-up blog?” then you’d read your text and it was surprising, shocking, so opinionated.
That’s why I liked the pink, it kind of said, “I’m a girl, I can like that pink stuff, but I’ll just be loud anyhow because I can.” Hope that all made sense.
That’s a good point, Jennifer.
At first the change was shocking and abrasive. But, now it’s kind of growing on me.
Let me know in a few days whether it’s growing on you or whether you still like the contradiction of pink.
You can still be girly here. Girls are powerful! I still write about make-up sometimes.
Does pink clash too badly with orange and red? Maybe I can pull off all 3?
Love the pictures.
