January 10 is Unity Day in the small mountain nation of Nepal. This public holiday commemorates the unification of the country in the 1768 by King Prithvinarayan Shah.

Nepal, located between India and China, is best known as the gateway to the Himalayan Mountains. Eight of the world’s tallests peaks are located in Nepal, the most notable of which is Mount Everest, on the China/Nepal border.
