New Risk Of Inactivity

I was looking through this month’s Women’s Health when I came across a blurb on glucose levels in those who don’t exercise. Apparently, simply being inactive for a period of time can raise your glucose levels. This causes all kinds of icky things like weight gain (especially in the stomach) and can lead to type 2 diabetes.
I’m a classic “apple” shape (or would be if I was overweight) and I’ve always been concerned about stomach fat. This is enough to make me want to step up my exercise. Trust me, the last thing you want is a poochy belly that could have been avoided by being active 30 minutes a day.
This could be why regular exercise tends to reduce stomach fat better than dieting alone (without exercise, the fat cells in your stomach will not shrink). So get your exercise in!
