Nip/Tuck Mommies
It is becoming an increasing trend for moms to go under the knife, these days. Many women become unsatisfied with their bodies or just parts them, after giving birth. The answer lies in a healthy diet, exercise and sometimes…plastic surgery. There are some things that just cannot be corrected with all the exercise in the world. Some plastic surgery offices even offer a “Mommy Package,” which is a combination of breast augmentation/lift and a tummy tuck. To some, it is a price worth paying to regain some form of the body they used to have. To others, the idea of a mom having plastic surgery is abhorrent.
Does it send a message to kids that it is okay to be dissatisfied with your body? Does it teach kids that even mommies are human and deserve to make themselves happy? Do kids even need to know that mommy is having surgery? What is your opinion on the matter? Have you had plastic surgery? Do you plan to? If money was no object, would you go under the knife? Let’s discuss!

I recently did a post on something similar. Becoming a mother has helped me embrace my unique beauty..every time I look at my pale, blond little boys I fall in love w/ myself a little more.
Surgery that altered my face would seem kind of wrong – I wouldn’t want to alter parts of me that I might have passed onto them.
I used to be against cosmetic surgery, but after having three kids, one set of twins, I would be up for a little tummy tuck! Not for the stretch marks (those are battle scars and i love them!) but for the saggy flappy skin on my stomach. Its grody looking. If I had the money that is.
That doesn’t seem vain to me Christine.. not like getting a nose job or something..
I think this is a positive trend. A woman should always feel like a woman, a desirable one. If childbearing has caused some damage – it should be corrected.
If you’re considering a tummy tuck close your eyes and imagine this.
A surgeon takes your child and slices him/her in half, next they remove a hunk of skin and fat, finally they pull your child’s lower half up like a pair of pants and sew them together all the while hoping there are no complications.
Now, unless you have gained and lost 150+ pounds it’s unlikely that your tummy tuck is anything but cosmetic.
I dare you to love yourself as much as you love your child.
I’d love to get a mommy package! I’ve always been thin, but I have that mommy belly that I can’t get rid off. I’ve tried exercising, it doesn’t matter. It causes clothes to not fit right. If I had the money, I’d go. Not sure what I’d tell the kiddos, but I would most likely be totally honest.
I don’t see anything wrong with getting something done. I don’t think it would effect kids either. Unless it was all the time, like those people that are addicted to surgery.
I think that no matter how hard you try, everyone has some body issues. It can’t be prevented in my opinion. Of course it can be made worse, so there is a fine balance (like everything else in parenting, right)
I don’t see anything wrong with a little nip tuck here and there. I think it’s a personal thing.
