NFM_XComf_Gel Nivea For Men recently released two new shaving products to the market. Nivea For Men Extreme Comfort Shave Gel and Extreme Comfort Post Shave Balm.

Every man knows how uncomfortable shaving can be and how your face feels afterwards. We’re always looking for a better razor, shave cream and after-shave. I still like the Gillette Fusion razor for a nice smooth shave but I’m always trying different shave creams. Sometimes I just settle for your basic shave cream but I can always tell a big difference when I use a gel.

Nivea For Men Extreme Comfort Shave gel comes out nice and smooth and lathers up well. The scent is not strong and it makes for a nice smooth shave. It rinses away nicely where some gels don’t rinse off as well and leaves a slimy feeling.

The Nivea Extreme Comfort Post Shave Balm was really nice too. It comes in a cap-NFM_XComf_Balmon-bottom style bottle so your not struggling to get the gel out of it. It has a nice consistency like a typical balm and goes on smooth and clean, leaving your face feeling soothed and cool. I can stand an aftershave that still feels like it on after you rub it into your skin. This made my face feel nice and smooth and moisturized at the same time. I’m very picky when it comes to aftershave. After all, if you have a cheap or strong “Old man” smelling aftershave you can tell a difference throughout the day. You start sweating and your face starts burning and dries out.

You can pick up these products just about anywhere that sells personal hygiene items. The shave gel retails at a fair $3.99, while the Post Shave Balm run a bit high at $7.99, but you get 100ml which is a pretty good amount for a product this good.

    Leave this one alone!

I have never had an allergic reaction in my life and have never had acne. I tried Extreme Comfort shaving balm out once and ended up with horrible and painful acne. Prescription painkillers don’t even help. Do yourself a favour and pass this product by.

Just because YOU had an allergic reaction to it doesn’t mean everyone else will. I haven’t I like it. Ever think that it could have been something else like the shave cream you used? Or your razor?

  4. Graeme says:

    Good point,

Other people might not have a reaction, but as I am not given to them - anyone who is inclinded to should probably be concerned.

As for other causes, I have used the type of razor and blade for more than a year. The same type saving cream for more than six months and was half way through the bottle I had been using at the time. The razor blade was the second in a package of four and I had used it for perhaps a week. All with no ill effect. What I can tell you is that my face broke out into multiple acne like lesions in exactly the same place where I shave that began after I used this product for the first time. I have never had anything like that happen at all ever for any reason - allergic or other. Given that I used the same shaving cream, razor, soap and shampoo and just everything else I can think of for a significant period of time - I really can’t think of another cause. It is possible that the very same day I tried this new product I picked up some dermatitis or virus that caused irruption exactly and only where I shave. Perhaps I ate something I reacted to and it caused a reaction exactly and only where I shave - but that is rather unlikely in my unexpert opinion. Perhaps I have some rare allergy to one of the many ingredients in this product - but as I don’t have any other allergies so it must be pretty specific and there must be something pretty rare in this product.

I have a high pain tolerance - I’ll tell you I can’t remember being in as much pain. My face looked like a pizza, I’ve spent a couple hundred dollars on medication, and I haven’t been able to shave for weeks while I heal. With all of the other products on the market and after what I just went through I wouldn’t take the chance with this one.

On another note, I asked Nivea about the problem. You would think they would be concerned that their product might have been contaminated or that there was some ingredient that they might need to put an alert on their packaging. I guess not, they were supposed to send me something to send them back a sample - it has been a couple of weeks later I have never seen anything.

  5. Scott says:

Wow, I’m really sorry to hear about your problem. I would be persistent with Nivea. Call, send letter, emails, etc. If this happened to me I would be upset as well. I did know someone that had an allergic reaction to a shaving cream he had never used before and his face swelled up like a balloon.

  6. Kerry says:

Well, my son who is 20 years old and special needs, used the Nivea Facial Cream. Instantly after he put it on- (and he has Never had an allergic reaction) he came to me to show me all the hives that were going all over his body. I took a look at them and it was just horrible. I had not antihistamines so i took him to the hospital. We waited 2 hours before someone would see him- and of course i had to say the hives had in fact spread. When he was called to be seen- he went and sat down and went into anaphylatic shock- he had to be rushed to acute to get a shot of adrenaline in his belly and hooked up to iv so he could get immediate allergy medication. Nivea has always been a product that my family has used. But judging from what i have read on the internet and the reaction he got to using that for the first time- it should be pulled off the shelves or be prepared to go up agains massive lawsuits.

  7. Scott says:

Wow. I’m going to have to see if there are any more other cases like this out there. Makes me grateful that I didn’t have an alergic reaction as well.

  8. lynda says:

My son has had ahorrific reaction to this product and despite taking antihistamines his face is red, swollen and itching an has been nfor 2 days, He has only used it twice and it has happened both times. So now we are sure it is this product. I have written to nivea for an explaination and compensation

  9. waynethecelt says:

I too, having never had an allergic reaction to anything before, bought this product and broke out in nasty painful spots around my beard line. I went to my GP who told me it was an allergic reaction to something new I was using. Caveat Emptor, Buyer beware!! I had bought this product as the supermarket was out of my usual brand - Nivea sensitive Extra Soothing Balm, which, to be fair, I’ve never had a problem with.

  10. Nomie says:

Plz i need nivea manufacturer’s email.
    I need it urgently.
