No Ferris Wheel. Mom!

Said Charlie. He and Jim had driven for 3 1/2 hours on the Garden State Parkway to the beach; swam in some mighty cold water (no one else was in); had a delicious seafood dinner; went to the rides. And then, per Charlie’s request, home.

Time for me to go home, too.

    The amphibious Charlie.

I wonder if he responds to images of sea-going others. Dolphins, whales, anything that loops around in the water in a graceful manner. Seems like he might appreciate the movement, the sense of being they convey.

He’ll be so happy to see you! And Jim will, too.

  3. Karen says:

Jim is smart to keep Charlie busy while he’s missing you, but distraction has its limits. I bet you’ll all be so happy to see each other!

  4. What does Charlie do in the car to pass the time? If he is the only one is he still in the back seat? I feel more comfortable having Nick in backseat since he flips out at drivers pulling out too soon and distracts me.

I remember as a kid going on the parkway for hours to the shore. When I took Nick to Santa Monica last month he really was scared of the pier and walking on it.

On Tue camp is going to SM, but not the pier, I guess others have the same issue. It is kind of weird to drive on the pier to get to the parking lot.

  5. For awhile, he liked listening to CDs and the radio, less so now. Usually he seems to do what I remember doing a lot of—staring out the window—-we’ve never gotten a DVD player or wanted to, but Charlie hasn’t seem so interested in watching many/any DVDs lately (which is good and bad).

We thought of going to the beach today, but Sunday evening traffic would have been too slow—I think everyone went down there as it has been so hot.

So inquiring minds want to know–what was the reception when you got home from BlogHer?

This is when I envy a Jersey-type coast, with things like boardwalks and amusement rides. Lots of sand, surf and seafood here, and even seals but no funzones to speak of until the County Fair. Glad Charlie enjoyed his trip.

  7. They were both asleep when I walked in…..

Charlie, when he was up, walked into the room and turned right around, with a smile, and then proceeded to run up down and all around happily.

He did have one crying jag in the afternoon out of the blue as we did piano—-it was very sudden and very distressed.

I put him on the bus this morning and could see him smiling out the window as I waved.
