[pict via monolithic]
As part of our engineering class, in college, we watched a film about monolithic dome construction. It was interesting. They presented all of the domes natural feats of strength. They are hard on the eyes. Even though they may be ugly to some of us the construction costs associated with the dome is what makes them so attractive. The shape, a dome, makes it easy to heat and cool promoting natural circulation.

I was reminded of these monolithic domes when I saw an interview of Rebecca South, president of Domes For The World and Robert Scoble. Domes For The World is providing a solution to help shelter the worlds homeless. Watch the interview, it is worth your time.
