No – That’s NOT What Alcoholics Anonymous Is!

I heard something else this past weekend. I consider the “level” I heard it at and that motivates me to offer this…
What Is Alcoholics Anonymous?
“We are a fellowship of men and women who have lost the ability to control our drinking and have found ourselves in various kinds of trouble as a result of drinking. We attempt – most of us successfully – to create a satisfying way of life without alcohol. For this we find we need the help and support of other alcoholics in A.A.”
That’s what AA is! Anything else is personal opinion or profundity pushing (be careful of underlying motives).
[From the AA pamphlet "A Newcomer Asks"]

I really think all is lost. No one even understands what we are talking about. Please tell me I am wrong.
Oh No my friend! That is why folks like you are here!!!
I’ll never forget that oldtimer who told me they gave us a legacy to pass on because they knew, they just knew, that these days would come.
I’m certain you’ve passed it on to someone exactly the way it was given to you and they will also pass it on that way.
The legacy is healthy and alive!
Amen, I agree with you Mark. My homegroup has many oldtimers who share their experience, strength and hope and I’m so grateful for them as I am to the newcomer whom I can help with what I’ve learned throughout the years. Without the 12th step there would be no AA.
