Notebook Paper “Lucky Origami Stars”

Lucky Origami Star

I tried to find some junk mail to make the stars from Saturday, but I suppose everyone will have to settle for the used notebook paper I used instead.

I found some relatively good instructions for the Origami star here.

Keep in mind that it may take several tries to make the star–I had to start over twice.  I guess they are “lucky stars” because you are lucky if you get one to work.  I found that using stiff, but not too stiff of paper seems to work well.  (Not that I am an expert–I just tried it until I got it right.)

Good Luck!

I like the idea of filling a glass jar with these. I have 3 Very large clear glass urn like jars on my dining room table. I put glass ball ornaments in them at Christmas, but I couldn’t figure out anything to put in them now. I want something that I don’t have to spend money on. And wouldn’t it be cool to fill them up with shiny red, white, and blue stars for Memorial Day and 4th of July decorations! Now I just need to find enough red, white, and blue junk mail.

My children went nuts over the video instructions. At least I haves lots of junk mail.

  3. Anita, if you end up making that, I’d love to post it, drop me a comment or an email (I think my email works now from the sidebar) and I’ll work it in!

  4. Sometimes the video instructions are SOOOO slow, but it isn’t always a bad thing when kids are trying to follow.

    i love your website

  6. Thank you for the complement, miranda, but it isn’t mine anymore. Since around March, Peggy has been at the wheel!

Although, I think Peggy has access to this comment too…Right Peggy?

  7. Peggy says:

Hey Josh. Hope you’re doing well!

Miranda, thanks, whichever posts you’re referring to :)

We had a Thai exchange student live with us one year…she made these. She said in Thailand when you have crush on a boy you make him a glass container full of these.

  9. That’s cool! Maybe I’ll have to try it on my wife?
