Obama, Why Haven’t You Fixed the Economy?

Gosh Obama – you have been in office a whole 35 minutes. Why haven’t you fixed the economy already?

Obama can throw a kajillion dollars at this economy and it won’t fix the problem.

As Suze Orman says, “What makes you think this is about money?”

This is a problem in people’s hearts. This is a problem with how we think about money and things. This is a fundamental problem with our relationship to money, other people, our businesses, our government.

As soon as everyone takes responsibility for their part in this and changes their thinking – the economy will miraculously improve.

It won’t go back to what it was. Who wants an economy based on lies? No one. That’s what got us here in the first place.

We don’t want to  go back to being an economy based on debt. Circulating Credit is NOT the answer to America’s new economy. Circulating Credit is the bad mojo that created the current unemployment rate of over 8%. If companies are charging their employees salary and benefits they didn’t create a JOB. They created DEBT. There can be no stability in an economy based on debt. As long as we keep thinking like this – we’re in for bigger trouble.

I still have a glimmer of a hope that I’m going to turn on Larry King or CNN or my local news and hear someone – a banker, an automaker, a mortgage broker, a Republican, a George Bush, a kajillionaire businessman, an upside-down homeowner, a government official in charge of interest rates, a stock broker - talk some sense.

Here’s the Crib Notes for Talking Sense about this economy:

We screwed up. We believed we could ride the credit train forever. We thought profits were limitless. We didn’t think. We didn’t think about how our actions would effect the next generation. We didn’t care how our actions affected you. We didn’t think about the whole. Our extreme capitalism harmed our capitalist economy.  We’re sorry. Please forgive us. We take responsibility for our actions and vow to change the way we do business. We’re going to be socially responsible in our business practices from here on out.

You can not change what you do not acknowledge.

Hear, hear! And it’s more than that, too. The greed that has grown from varieties of credit and financing shenanigans has been tolerated by regulators for too long. No one was watching the fox in the henhouse and now we wonder why there aren’t any eggs.

    Suzy?
I’m sorry but you don’t know what you are talking about. The reasons for our problems are NOT due to some “credit scam” but in the neocons selling all our jobs overseas.

What you weren’t made aware of was that 2 years before the houses started being foreclosed upon en masse, America started hemmorhaging jobs. This was written about in the business sections but it wasn’t put on the news.
If you lose your job you can’t pay your bills!
But the Corporate Whores don’t want YOU (the gullible uninformed public) to know that it was THEIR fault by selling America’s jobs out of the country!

These “credit scams” are NOT the cause of the unemployment. Unemployment =no jobs. No jobs=no money, no money = no funds to pay for a house. No where in that equation is CREDIT!

People need JOBS to pay for things and houses. and PAY OFF THEIR CREDIT CARDS!

Jobs are the issue NOT credit.

Obama has already started stopping some job losses and soon the stimulus will kick in and jobs will return…

YOU have been conned by the corporate whores who control the media into believing false spin.

    why are you here?

    To enlighten you!

I haven’t lost much in my stocks and my shopping center is still all rented out. So I know business.

Basically Americans wanted everything cheap cheap cheap. So they allowed the neocons to sell their jobs to other countries.

They dumbed us down so we would accept everything they planned for us.

    And we drank that Kool-Aid…

Go educate yourself. Read foreign newspapers, get to know other religions, cultures etc. This country has been isolated and dumbed down.

I can see that being a contributing factor to some of the job losses – here’s another factor: An economy built on credit will eventually collapse. A balloon mortgage will eventually get too expensive to afford. Unethical lending will lead to default.

The job losses and the foreclosures are happening simultaneously and compounding each other. Both are creating fear, which is keeping folks from investing, from spending, people are frozen, watching what happens next. Foreclosures are hurting neighbors who don’t foreclose, realtors, local as well as big banks, builders, architechs, investors in commercial real estate..it goes on and on.. And most of those foreclosures are due to unethical lending. To blame this mess solely on outsourcing jobs to other countries is just a little short sided. The big picture is complicated..

And your tone w/ Tracee is very condescending – you can say the same thing and not sound like such an ass with your shopping center and your business sense..lol

This post is about responsibility Salim. I’d settle for a corporation saying, “I’m sorry I sent all our jobs over seas” if that’s where their part in it lies. I’d settle for you saying, “here’s my responsibility in this as a store owner who pays employees with credit or someone who bought too much house.”

However, I have to disagree with your assessment of the problem. Your retail store clerk job isn’t overseas because the store is here. The clerk doesn’t have a job because they were being paid with credit and credit dried up because nearly everyone was overusing it and couldn’t make their payments.

There are many jobs that have gone overseas though. Routine tasks that can be performed and raise the quality of life of another country. Accounting jobs, computer programming jobs, manufacturing jobs.

This, however, will not kill the American Economy. It will only make us evolve. I’m reading a great book now titled “A Whole New Mind.” In it, the author agrees with you that yes – we are losing some times of jobs due to automation (the abilty of computers to do a job better), Asia (the ability for corporations to get a cheaper workforce in Asia), and Abundance (the pure abundance in America and our ability to get anything for relatively cheap).

The author doesn’t feel it’s a “problem” though. And neither do I. The author believes the shift is going to be fantastic for right brain people. Won’t kill the economy – just shift which types of jobs will be available and which types of worker will be best equipped for those jobs.

I’m right brained and loath routine tasks. So I say – it’s about freaking time!
