I became pro-choice because I am so pro-life really.
I make a distinction between wanting to kill a baby – which is no “right” I feel compelled to defend – and enforcing personal autonomy over women’s bodies and this includes ferility, having many babies and large families, medicine, battery and rape within marriage, etc.
I came to my pro-choice stance in college reading the science fiction classic, Ender’s Game, written by Orson Scott Card. In the book, America has put a limit on the number of children families can have to preserve resources. But, they are looking for a genius child to save the world so they test certain bright children and allow a few families to have 3 children.
Fundamentally I want the government and all other entities to stay out of my womb. Period.
It may sound far-fetched, but China has been doing this for decades. I’ve heard many people say they think the government should legislate or regulate fertility treatments because of Nadya Suleman’s Octuplets and such responsibility should be prevented and we shouldn’t have to pay for it. Next thing you know we’re telling Michelle Duggar she can’t have any more children because who would want 19 children? Then were prosecuting people who try to have a singleton after a multiple birth.
No way. I defend Octimom’s right to have as many children as she wants. I defend my right to have only two. I defend Roe v. Wade only as a defense of physcial autonomy for women.
Think Ender’s Game is ”just a book?” So was The Communist Manefesto, The Bible, and Fatherland.
The entire universe was created with the words “Let there be light.”
I defend her right to choose. I defend her right to reproduce I defend every single woman’s physical autonomy.
I feel like I agree with you on this issue. I hate abortion. I think it’s wrong. But I don’t think throwing a woman in prison because she got an abortion is the answer at all. I don’t think making it a crime would diminish abortions in any substantial way whatsoever, plus it would have other consequences.

I appreciate that you agree that that woman has a right to have a doctor inpregnant her with 8 embrios considering she is on welfare. I think maybe you and everyone else who feels the way you do should pay our share of her welfare check. I am a pro lifer. I feel sick that there are people who believe, actually believe, that it is OK to kill an innocent child and that it is not OK to kill a murderer with the death penalty. However, who in their right mind thinks it is OK to take part of my paycheck to pay for this trainwreck. This woman is not in her right mind, I think the children should be put up for adoption. I think the doctor who did this should not only be made to support these children as if he where the biolgical parent, but he should also be made to pay for all of thier education for his irresponsibility. It makes me sick that my own children are doing without because Welfare Octimom needs cash….it sickens me. It sickens me so bad that no matter how hard I work…..people like this woman who would rather collect welfare for children are living off part of my paycheck. You know my first son was born when I was 16. 16!!!!! I never in my life collected welfare. I went to high school and work my ass off, taking good care of my baby and his needs. It is called RESPONSIBILITY!!! It was my responsibility, noone elses. And I did it. I would never say that someone should do something that I was not willing to do myself. Also, I took this responsibility all on my own. No child support, all the money we had, I worked my ass off for. And my son had EVERYTHING! No tax payer EVER paid for anything…..yes, a 16 year old is more responsible than this woman who is about to take care of 14 kids. An irresponsible, and admitadly depresed woman….HELLO…aren’t we suppose to be looking out for these children????? And by the way ANGELINA….HANDS OFF….that is what she wants… she is a phsycho and wants to be Angelina or involved with Angelina. She is a sicko. My god those poor kids….those poor poor babies. By the way, just for the record, I would adopt one, just one. Because as a responsible adult, that is all I could afford to raise in a median income situation. Do you not know this story? What does being prolife have to do with the Octamom? Her kids were not “natural” she put 8 embryos in her body knowing she had 6 more at home she couldn’t take care of. This is already against the law because at her age she should only have had 2-3 implanted. So she has 8 babies bringing her grand total to 14 and the first thing she does is hire a publicist and lie to America. She has NO job, NO education, NO husband and NO home because hers is getting foreclosed. She had 8 babies just to make a buck? How can you be pro-life and think this is right? How can you defend her right to do this? Pro-life means you choose “life” not the right of a mentally challenged person to make themeselves into a puppy mill.
first of all you say hands off your womb i say keep your hands and beliefs out of everyone elses wombs i am pro choice i have 1 child that i love dearly that being said the only reason i have her is because the mother lied to me what ever i still love my daughter octimom is toatally wrong she shouldn’t even have one child she is a threat to the health and wellbeing to those children and i’m sick and tired of my taxes going to people like her and the generosity of some very good and well meaning people is wasted on someone who is on welfare to begin with that woman has no right to have children when she can take care of them 7 years ago i was injured in a motorcycle crash ( she 19 made left in front of me hit me head on my health insurance paid 1.25 million to keep me alive because she’s welfare mom and has no money) and if i wanted to could claim disability but i took high road and still work as a mechanic though the pain every day and i have no ideas of becoming a burden on the tax payers i agree with one past commentor that the doctor needs to be held responsible for the children make him pay as if he is the father he impregnated her knowing her situation and that welfare was paying for this he wants to do it he can pay for it please lord take those children away from her before she kills them
