Offbeat Furniture Finds

It’s been a while since we’ve had some good old funky furniture. I’ve been saving some good ones up too.
I love eco-artware. I swear they always have something you can fall for. Today I saw something I missed back in the day; an archive item, but spectacular.

Can you tell what it’s made of? If you can guess tell me in the comments. You could just go look, and then leave a comment, but that’s so karma damaging, that I just won’t know what to do with you. By the way, I thought it was made out of something else – not what it really is.
Hey, there is a genius in the house today… his name is David Delthony. I’m not sure what else to say but genius. Maybe I’ll say it a few more times - genius genius genius! Just look at what he does to wood:

And then he does this…

Holy genius, right. A nicely folded over wooden desk – he calls it the “clam” – funny. You can order items from his site; where, by the way, he has many more treats for you to see. Amazing stuff. His wife and him, have a studio/workshop deal in Utah. Next time I go through Utah, I’m stopping. (I actually go through Utah a lot – not sure how that happens).
Bookshelf:

The blogger / architect student, who runs the site Weirdomatic, has an entire collection of weird bookcases – none of which I’d ever seen. So that was great. You have to see, there are maybe ten others.
My favorite find, possibly of the year so far, are these:

Scrabble seating! My sister would die. She’s a total Scrabble freak. How cool. This is at one of my fave sites freshome. There are more pics, including close-ups at freshome.
Don’t forget to tell me what that first couch is made of.

Okay, i’m totally curious what the settee is made of – it looks like aluminum, but that would be too easy. I couldn’t find it in the eco-artware link – i looked under “furniture”. I hope you’ll tell us tomorrow!
Thanks for the guess. Of course I will tell you tomorrow. Or point it out if someone guesses correctly.
I’ll link to it then too. I thought it was made of flat aluminum beads – like spangles (?) or something. I was wrong.
I love the scrabble seating!
Is the seat made from bottle caps?
Amy ~ no, but that’s a good guess actually. They do look like bottle caps. I never thought of that.
I just found your site, and I LOVE it. I love offbeat stuff anyway, and its fun to look, being in the house construction process. You never know what we can incorporate into our new home as we go.
I love that wooden furniture. I have to check out the guy’s site!
Brandy, welcome to Offbeat. Your site looks pretty cool – home building yourself (or at least your hubby). You don’t ever know what you could incorporate into your home. There are so many ideas. Good luck with your home; I’ve built before so I know it’s a big task.
Thanks for stopping by.
