Saturday. The first full day of the weekend. A day to relax, get some housework done, hit the mall, or take the kids to a park.
Saturday is also a day for some work- and Internet-a-holics, such as myself, to catch up on emails, blogs we subscribe to, and websites we’ve bookmarked throughout the week.
I’m going to start a Saturday tradition here at Mental Health Notes. I’m going to help you start using Saturdays to catch up on news, trends, and discoveries in the world of psychology, psychiatry, and overall mental health.
Sure, you can visit multiple websites and scan through numerous feeds looking for the most interesting goings-on, but who has the time? It’s Saturday!
So, without further ado, I present the first installment of Saturday Sanity.
- Second-hand Smoke Causes Psychological Problems For Kids – Just one more reason to stay away from smoking.
- Critics of ‘The Secret’ Bemoan Claims – Despite it’s fame – thanks in part to Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres, and Larry King – many mental health professionals are claiming this “self-help” book/dvd could actually be harmful to people with mental health disorders.
- Antidepressants Rated Low Risk in Pregnancy – Though it’s not very in depth, it’s good news nonetheless.
- Psychiatrists Top List in Drug Maker Gifts – “Psychiatrists earn more money from drug makers than doctors in any other specialty.”
- Too Much Video Gaming Not Addiction, Yet – They’ve decided it would be “premature” to formally label it as an addiction.
That’s all for the first installment of Saturday Sanity. Enjoy your day!

Great idea! I might have to give this a try myself, with props to you of course!!! Hope your weekend is good.
You know what else it’s good for? I find all kinds of websites and news stories throughout the week that I really want to share, but don’t really have anything brilliant to say about, haha. So rather than regurgitate information to readers, I can just tip them off on some good stuff I’ve found
I agree. Excellent idea.
Alright, I’ll be back next saturday. I am counting on ya.
