Ok folks, I need some input: hip pain

If I’m only 47, why do I feel like my body is falling apart sometimes?
A couple of days ago, I began experiencing “discomfort” in both hips, on the inside, towards the groin. While the right hip stayed about the same, the left has been getting considerably worse. I wouldn’t call it quite pain, but it’s a pressure, as if bone is rubbing on bone. Sitting is uncomfortable, as is standing. Lying is a bit better, but that’s really relative, right?
I do have a doctor’s appointment coming up in two weeks, so unless things get really bad, I can wait until then. I tried taking anti-inflammatories but they didn’t make any difference, neither did heat or a warm bath.
Since it’s not exactly pain, I’m really stumped as to what to do but it’s so uncomfortable that I have to do something. Any suggestions? I’m not looking for medical advice or a diagnosis – that’s what my doctor is for, I was just wondering if there were any people who may have experienced the same thing and may have some tricks for me to try.
Ok, I’m off to hobble over to the kitchen now…

i was 47 when i was diagnosed with avn. i had pain more in my left hip than the right, which went to my knee to my groin which felt like someone was squeezing my left testicle. i tried cortizone shot, some relief, bone decompression, which helped decrease the pain for about a year. has a cortizone shot under x-ray which made me feel like a million dollars until the end fo the next day. finally at 48 i had to throw in the towel and had a total hip replacement. no tricks to try. just pain, drugs, and ultimately SURGERY!
