Old Faithful Geyser in Calistoga California

Location: California’s “Old Faithful” Geyser
Destination: Calistoga, California
Country: United States
Year Taken: 2006

Photographer: Jon Rochetti
Blog: The DC Traveler

At least once every hour, and usually more often, the geyser in Calistoga, California erupts and shoots a tower of steaming water about 75 feet into the air.

The source of the geyser is a river, deep underground. When to flows over hot molten magma, the water boils and turns to steam.  IT’s collected in underground caverns and when it builds up, it erupts in a spectacular natural water show.

I was lucky enough to get a photo as the sunshine created a spectacular rainbow.
