Old Ledgers Can Be Refurbished and Reused

Found this Ledger in a “free books” pile.

Several weeks ago, I found an old ledger–the one pictured above.  I was amazed that someone hadn’t finished using it, since it still had many pages left.

You may have noticed that they book has two or three signatures ripped from the front.  This is really the only damage that the ledger sustained and its fixable.

The first step is to put glue all over the flap from the front of the book (it just happens to be exactly the right width to make the first page usable, even after I glue the flap down).  Put glue into the crevices all the way down to the first remaining signature as well.

Now, carefully close and then press overnight.

That’s it.  Now I have a ledger to keep track of finances–and I won’t have to count the ledger itself as an expense in the ledger.
