Olympian Gary Hall, Jr. is Inspired by Diabetes
Since many of you have let me know that you’ve been touched by diabetes and by the Inspired by Diabetes campaign, in the 2008 Beijing Olympic spirit, I thought I’d point out that Olympian Gary Hall Jr. is now the latest Inspired by Diabetes global ambassador.
He is currently writing for a blog on the L.A. Times website called “Olympics: Ticket to Beijing“. He has updates, opinions, and commentary on the games.
Hall is a 10-time medalist in the Summer Games. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1999, and a year later, defied the odds by winning his first individual gold in the 50 freestyle in Sydney in 2000. In 2004 in Athens he became, at 29 years old, the oldest male in 80 years to win gold for the U.S. team.
